It is difficult to get 2 people to agree on a set of opinions. There are not many families out there that does not have difference of opinions and petty fights on a day to day basis.
Imagine 1 Billion people - 1000,000,000 people. Each coming from a unique combination of cultural, financial, religious, and social background with varying personal needs. Imagine each of them bringing their opinion on how "things should be" to the table and trying to get that implemented. Forget the breakdown into individuals and think about groups. I cannot imagine how a number of groups can come to agreement on any set of issues without compromise, and empathy - at group and individual level.
Why do people say the politicians are bad, and continue to elect the same people again and again? These are the same people who say that they are correct and the neighbor is wrong; that they are being taken advantage of by their boss at work, and family members at home; that all the society except them is corrupt and they are just helpless (what can I do myself when the whole world is corrupt attitude).
If everyone is right, then who is wrong?
If everyone is being taken advantage of, then who benefits?
If everyone is cheated, then who is the cheater?
All activists believe that theirs is the right cause.
All religions say that thay are right.
All politicians claim they have the right policies.
Do we want to build a black and white world - one which classifies people as good or bad, corrupt or true, right or left, atheist or religious?
Or do we prefer to see the colorful world where people have a shade of everything good and bad, religious beliefs and suspicions, corruption and truthfulness. A colorful world where everyone understands that the other person is equal to him/her, and my colors are as beautiful as theirs !
This is similar to Neo's choice of pills in the movie Matrix [1] You can choose the black-and-white pill and choose to believe in whatever you want to believe; criticize the politicians, the neighbors, your boss and family members.
Or you can choose the color pill and start living a different life.
As Morpheus says in the movie [1] "Remember, all I am offering is the truth; nothing more."
